Boston Marathon. I love the tradition surrounding it. It was my earliest memory of what long distance road racing was. When I began running in my 40's; one of my first goals was to qualify for Boston. I will be running it for the first time in April 2017.

Most interesting race experience
Having the experience of pushing my body and mind beyond the limits of what I ever thought was possible, culminating in hallucinations during the last 10 miles of the Thunder Rock 100.

I grew up in suburban Detroit and moved to Huntsville 25 years ago after a 3 year tour in the US Army. I had visited my brother a few times while he was attending UAH and decided that I wanted to live in warmer climate. Since then, I have lived in both Central and South Alabama.
4 years ago I decided to change the course of my life. I had worked in the hospitality industry for many years and I was also a long time smoker. I decided that I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle and at the age of 43 I quit smoking and started running. I went from not being able to complete a mile without stopping to completing my first marathon in a little over a year. Now I am in the best shape of my life.
I have two wonderful daughters who are now in college. I work at Fleet Feet Sports in Huntsville. I am so glad that I get to help others achieve their health goals. I am also a Fleet Feet Coach for the 13.1 training program and Race Director for the HTC Summer Country Series.
