What is the hardest race you have ever run, and why OR what has been your toughest challenge in running, and why?
My toughest challenge in running has been trying to break the 2:50 mark again in the marathon.
What has been your most interesting race experience (give details)?
My most interesting race experience was the 2014 Turkey Trot in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I attempted to run a 10K in -4. At 1/2 mile I stopped to walk when I realized my eyelashes had froze. What amazed me was how many people were running (locals)
My proudest running moment
When I broke the 3:00 hour mark in the marathon for the first time - at the Mountains to Beach Marathon in California. I will never forget looking down at my watch and seeing a 2 and also seeing the finish line ahead of me.
What is your favorite quote, and why?
"Races are special moments where opportunity meets execution and we have a chance to push ourselves beyond our boundaries".
I was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California. I attended both college and graduate school in California as well. I grew up running in 5 and 10K's with my dad, but didn't return to running until after college. I only ran 3-4 miles at a time, and on a whim signed up for the OC half marathon. During mile 3 of that race, I was feeling pretty good and made the decision to follow the full marathoners to see if I could complete the full that day. I finished, and vowed never to run one again. Since then, I have ran 26 full marathons, some in costume. Little by little I have chipped away at my time from the initial 4:19 to most current, a 2:48. With no experience in running in high school or college, I absolutely a proponent of finding your passions, and making BIG goals, at any point in your life.
My passion for adventure is joined by my husband, Fargo and together we have a new baby girl, Parker. Last fall, he was offered a job with his company at the Decatur plant. We thought nothing sounded more exciting than a move to the south. So, here we are. Living out our dreams, and meeting the most incredible people, and runners, in the process.
