What are your favorite shoes, socks, and nutrition for running?
Nike Pegasus shoes, Swiftwick socks, Honey Stinger gels, and Nuun
What is the hardest race you have ever run, and why OR what has been your toughest challenge in running, and why?
Mountain Mist in the ice in 2016, this race was to be my 10th finish so I knew I had to do it, but I was worried to race (and drive to the start!) in the icy conditions.
What has been your most interesting race experience (give details)?
Madison Marathon in Madison, WI 2008. This was my first post-babies marathon (ran with fellow FF team member and husband, Rick). This race convinced me that we could make marathoning with young kids (2 and 1) work. Over the next decade, we continued our quest to run a marathon in every state, and we took our kids with us, meeting a family member or taking one with us along the way so we could have childcare. We have now run as many states with the kids as we did before they were here (24 states total). We’ve made some great memories as a family, and it all began with this race.
What is your favorite quote, and why?
“One day you will not be able to do this. Today is not that day.”
I am a runner who loves to compete here in Huntsville and also to travel the country for marathons. I have been training and racing in every distance from a 5K to a 50K over the last 14 years. I have run 33 marathons with a PR of 3:12:31 in the Baltimore Marathon, and I have run marathons in 24 different states. Trail ultras, especially Huntsville's Mountain Mist 50K and McKay Hollow Madness, are fun challenges for me. My husband, Rick, is a fellow Fleet Feet team member. We have three children, a son who is nine, a daughter who is eight, and a baby girl who will be two this summer. Rick and I enjoy finding ways to make marathon-level training and racing possible with our young family.
