What is your favorite product at Fleet Feet, and why?
My Addaday roller. It helps to keep me injury-free
What is the hardest race you have ever run, and why OR what has been your toughest challenge in running, and why?
The hardest race I have run was the 2014 Boston Marathon. It was the first time I ran Boston, and there are lots of reasons it is a challenging race. You have to travel, you start later in the day, and it's a tough course. It was also warm and sunny that year. I got very dehydrated and walked a lot in the second half. On a more personal note, I was going through a difficult period in my marriage at the time, which was mentally and emotionally challenging.
What has been your most interesting race experience (give details)?
The Split Half Marathon (Splitski Polumaraton) in Split, Croatia. My sister and I ran this race in 2016 on our trip to Croatia. Running a race overseas wasn't so different from running one here, but there were a few things that were interesting. Almost no one carried a water bottle. There were no mile markers, only kilometers. I never quite figured out how they divided their age groups (WS, W40, WU23?). It was a neat experience!
What is your favorite quote, and why
“Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind." Isaiah 58:
I grew up in Madison, AL and ran for fun throughout middle school and high school. I was on the rowing team at Ithaca College, and I graduated with a film degree in 2007. I started working as a video editor at DreamMaker Entertainment in 2008, and I also ran my first marathon that year (Rocket City). In 2009 I met the "Crazy Girls", a group of women who run around Madison in the early morning hours. They are wonderful friends and great training partners. I have a chocolate lab named Silva. Over the past few years I've been training more seriously, and I really enjoy being a part of Huntsville's running community. I have been a member of the Fleet Feet Racing Team since 2013, and it is an honor to run and train with such a great group of people. This year I'm looking forward to another fun, successful year of running and racing!
