What is the hardest race you have ever run, and why OR what has been your toughest challenge in running, and why?
Strolling Jim 2014 - a big DNF at Mile 32, which was disappointing because I had just done my first 50 miler in March and thought it would be an "easy" finish. I was truly humbled and awed by the mental toughness of the finishers, especially those that had completed this tough race many times before.
What is your worst training habit?
Jumping into speed work after a break...always leads to an injury.
What is your proudest running moment?
Completing my first 50 miler at Lake Martin in 2014. The freedom and peace I felt on the trails for those 11 1/2 hours was magnificent. It was truly a test of my mental toughness.
What is your favorite quote, and why?
Not necessarily running related, but "Always believe something wonderful is about to happen..."
I'm originally from Wisconsin but have lived in Huntsville for the past 11 years. I've always been athletic but never really began running until after my second child was born in 2006. My first race was the Huntsville Half Marathon and I have gone on to run numerous 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons, along with 10 marathons, 8 50Ks, and one 50 miler. I greatly enjoy long distance trail running and hope to complete my first 100 miler in the next few years. I am a geriatric social worker but also teach balance and fitness classes to older adults.
